Pink Twitter: Singer Responds to Critics Attacking Her Over Weight Gain, Says She Felt 'Beautiful'
Star crooner Pink recently took to Twitter to respond to critics who lashed out at the "Raise Your Glass" singer over what they perceive as her extreme weight gain.
The 35-year-old entertainer gleefully appeared at the recent "John Wayne 2015 Odyssey Ball" in Beverly Hills with husband Carey Hart, only to later be slammed by critics who seemed to take exception with her appearance.
"I can see that some of you are concerned about me from your comments about my weight," Pink posted on Twitter. "You're referring to the pictures of me from last night's cancer benefit that I attended to support my dead friend Dr. Maggie DiNome."
As for the nature of the event itself and the esteemed award being bestowed on DiNome, Pink also wrote, "She was given the Duke Award for her tireless efforts and stellar contributions to the eradication of cancer. But unfortunately, my weight seems much more important to some of you. While I admit that the dress didn't photograph as well as it did in my kitchen, I will also admit that I felt very pretty. In fact, I feel beautiful."
The star singer is almost as well known for her animal-rights activism as she is her music. According to Biography, the three-time Grammy and six-time MTV Award winner has also tirelessly worked with PETA in support of her cause.
Born Alecia Beth Moore, Pink rose to superstardom largely based on her tracks on the 2002 soundtrack "Moulin Rouge" alongside Christina Aguilera. Her "Pink" nickname derives from her fondness for the movie "Reservoir Dogs" and her perceived resemblance to the character Mr. Pink.
As for her newfound detractors, Pink added, "I'm not worried about you either. I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off. Thanks for your concern. Love, cheesecake."
