'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Star Kim Richards Reportedly Arrested on Public Intoxication, Assaulting an Officer Charges
"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards is facing public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer charges after being taken into custody at a Beverly Hills Hotel early Thursday morning.
According to People, police were called to the hotel just after 1 a.m. by "a report of a possible fight." In a statement, investigators have since detailed, when officers arrived, they allegedly noticed the 50-year-old "was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior, cursing at officers and passively resisting arrest."
The magazine adds at some point during the encounter Richards fled to the bathroom and refused to exit. Once at the police station, she allegedly kicked one of the officers in the leg. Richards was released about eight hours after being formally taken into custody and issued a citation.
A source later told the magazine of Richards, "She's always acting kooky, but that's her personality, so it wasn't necessarily obvious if she was drinking or anything again."
Richards previously spent time in rehab for substance abuse issues. The specter of her possibly having falling off the wagon was raised by fellow cast member Lisa Rinna at the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" Season 7 reunion show, but Richards vehemently denied those accusations and insisted she was still sober beyond having taken a pain pill during the most recent season that was given to her by her ex-husband.
"It's not a slip, and it's not a relapse," she argued, adding that her sobriety remained the most important thing to her.
E News reports Richards is now due to appear in LAX Superior Court on June 10.
Richards' odd behavior comes as nothing new. During the Season 1 finale of the show, she and sister Kyle engaged in a full-fledged screaming match on camera during which Kyle barked to her sister, "You are an alcoholic! Yeah, that's right. I've said it now and everybody knows."
