Will Harry Styles follow in former bandmate Zayn Malik's footsteps and quit One Direction soon?

While chatting briefly with TMZ over the weekend, Morgan Spurlock, who directed the British pop mega-band's 2013 documentary film "One Direction: This Is Us," expressed his strong doubts that 1D will stay together for much longer.

"I think they'll stay together for a little bit longer," he said, predicting that Styles will "probably be next" to pursue solo career.

Spurlock then compared the remaining members to an early '90s hip-hop group that branched off from the bigger group named New Edition.

"Niall [Horan] and Louis [Tomlinson] and, eh [Liam Payne]... I think those three guys are going to become like the new Bell Biv DeVoe," he joked.

The film director added he was actually expecting Malik to leave first, since he is "the most talented guy in that group."

"He's an incredible singer," he said. "All of them are talented singers, that's why they were all put together, but to make the decision to leave and go off on your own and chase a solo career in the midst of being as famous as you are, as successful as you are."

Following Malik's shocking departure last month, the four "Midnight Memories" hitmakers just wrapped up the latest leg of their "On The Road Again" tour and are now heading off on a break.

They recently admitted that performing without Malik really hurt at first.

"We're gutted that Zayn chose to leave," Payne told The Sun.

Styles then assured fans that the group would not be splitting anytime soon, since they are currently working on their next project.

"It's very exciting to be working on our fifth album," he said. "It shows how incredible the fans have been."

Tomlinson also promised Directioners that the band is "going to work harder than ever to deliver the best album we've ever made for you guys."
