Champions League 2014-15 Quarterfinals Preview: Where to Watch Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid, Monaco vs. Juventus
The Champions League quarterfinals come to an end on Wednesday with two key matchups that are far from over.
The Madrid derby, its eighth iteration of the season, will come to an end at the Santiago Bernabeu with Real Madrid looking to find its first victory over crosstown rival Atletico Madrid.
Despite being dominated for the better part of six games by Los Colchoneros, Carlo Ancelotti's men came out in the first leg and made everyone forget which side has dominated the tie since the 2013 Copa del Rey final. Real Madrid could have easily won the game in the first half alone if not for the amazing effort from Jan Oblak who denied Gareth Bale on a huge breakaway and then made some exquisite saves on Bale and James Rodriguez before the 45 minute marker was out.
But the second half was a different affair with Atleti calming the storm and taming Real Madrid in the second half. Of note is that Cristiano Ronaldo was relatively quiet throughout the night with barely any major chances. He will be looked to lead the side in arguably the biggest game of the year.
On the other half of the ledger is a crucial game between Juventus and Monaco. The French side played a decent defensive game but lost 1-0 on an Arturo Vidal penalty shot. Juventus can afford to play a more contained game, which should play into their hands. Of the two sides, there is no doubt that the Italian club is better at holding the ball than the French squad.
Predictions: Real Madrid finally conquers its greatest foe with a 2-1 victory. Juventus should have no difficulty holding on to their lead in the series and will likely pull away a 2-1 win in Monaco.
Where to watch: Both games start at 2:45 p.m. EST and will be available on Fox Soccer 2Go.
