Mixed martial arts is a very popular contact sport in various Latin American countries. Numerous Latin American-born fighters hold UFC championship belts today such as Rafael dos Anjos and José Aldo.

The UFC has become an excellent industry for many Latinos to showcase their fighting skills and abilities.

UFC President Dana White knows that a lot of his viewers and talented fighters hail from Mexico, South America and Spain, so his company decided to come up with a new reality series targeted towards that specific audience. Last year was the first season of the "Ultimate Fighter Latin America."

Last season, Yair Rodríguez was victorious, defeating Leonardo Morales in the finals.

Season 2 will make its premiere on August 26, and has been filming for the new season since March 17. Last year's season was a huge success, and brought in very high ratings. An average of seven million people watch each episode in Mexico alone last year. This season, nine Latin American countries will be represented for a chance to be named "Ultimate Fighter."

According to MMAFighting.com, the fighters consist of:

Lightweights

Cesar Arzamendia, Paraguay
Enrique Barzola, Peru
Horacio Gutierrez, Mexico
Oliver Meza, Panama
Jonathan Ortega, Chile
Marco Polo Reyes, Mexico
Daniel Salas, Mexico
Christihian Soto, Nicaragua

Welterweights

Hector Aldana, Mexico
Wilmer Fernandez, Honduras
Alvara Herrera, Mexico
Enrique Marin, Spain
Kevin Medinilla, Argentina
Erick Montano, Mexico
Marco Olano, Peru
Vernon Ramos, Panama

The two coaches will be Kelvin Gastelum and Efrain Escudero.

Now, one thing you've probably noticed when you viewed the list of fighters above: no Brazilian fighters. Don't panic. Brazil has its own TUF events to showcase MMA talent.

Mexico has the most fighters competing, with five on the show. Erick Montano, Alvara Herrera, Hector Aldana, Daniel Salas and Horacio Gutierrez will all be representing Mexico in the upcoming television series. White has said multiple times that Mexico is a huge MMA market that he and his company are "aggressively" targeting it. The second season of "Ultimate Fighter Latin America" season is scheduled to broadcast in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Colombia and the United States on Fox Deportes.

MMA is beginning to replace boxing as the most popular contact sport in the United States, and is becoming extremely popular in other countries. The UFC has become one of the most diverse sports industries in the world today.
