Taylor Swift is now rumored to be dating Calvin Harris, but the "Shake It Off" singer readily admits the reason she remained single as long as she did "had a lot to do with the media's coverage of her love life."

"There is no easy way for me to engage with romance," Swift told Glamour she would try convincing herself. "I'm really busy, so I can't."

In recent times, the 25-year-old crooner has been romantically linked to failed relationships with the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, Harry Styles, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Cory Monteith, Eddie Redmayne, Conor Kennedy and Patrick Schwarzenegger. But still, Swift thinks the decision to date or not to date should solely be left up to her.

"It's kind of a sad way I got there," she said of her one-time decision to put her dating life on pause. "Being shamed into it. What else is it when you have two boyfriends in one year and everyone's calling you boy crazy, making jokes about you at awards shows? That's public humiliation. And I don't think it's fair."

According to Fox, it's also made for a tight balancing act, given Swift is on record for not wanting to be part of an overly sexualized music industry.

"Every woman has different things that make them feel strong and powerful," she said. "For me, I don't have any need or urge to write about overt sexuality. It just never occurs to me. I appreciate girls who sing about whatever they want, because that's what they want to sing about."

Swift and Harris have supposedly been dating for weeks now and People reports the pair were recently spotted holding hands and a source told the magazine that same evening he spent the night at her LA home.
