Javier Hernandez Transfer News: Real Madrid Should Hold on to Mexican Striker
Javier Hernandez has not had a great season.
That much is true. The Mexican striker has spent most of his time in Spain's capital warming the bench and waiting for an opportunity had never looked like it would come.
And from the looks of it, his comments made it clear that once the season was at an end, his path would move in a different direction.
But alas, Chicharito and Real Madrid might have a chance to find some reconciliation and realign their respective paths after the year ends.
Many thought the team would be uninterested in bringing back the player, but with his big goal for Los Blancos in the Champions League, that perception may have been altered.
Chicharito has actually been quite good for the team when given an opportunity. He has four goals in the Spanish League despite only playing 422 minutes and getting two starts. In his last three games, all as a starter, he has completed well over 80 percent of his passes, has five key passes, has seven shots on target (Ronaldo has eight shots on target in that span and the sane number of goals as Chicharito) and has 13 overall shots (Ronaldo has 20 shots overall in that span as well). And he has two goals and one assist in that run. He is not Benzema, but it is clear that with more playing time, he can and will have an impact for Los Blancos.
On Wednesday, he played his best game in a white shirt, creating chances and finally converting on the crucial goal. He might never score 20 goals (or he very well could with more playing time), but the reality is that there will not be many who could be better replacements out there for Madrid.
Of course, the price tag of 10 million euros might turn off the defending European champions. But it is an affordable rate to have a player who can make an impact and with better usage might give Karim Benzema more time to rest throughout the course of a grueling season.
