Many fans have become antsy with the news of the delay in the release of the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Producer Jerry Bruckheimer reported that the filming, and subsequently, the release of the movie has been delayed due to script and budget issues.

Last September it was reported that the latest installment was set to be released July 10, 2015 but the release date has been pushed back to the summer of 2013 due to budget and script considerations.

  1. Johnny Depp will be returning to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. However, the beautiful Angelica Teach played by Penelope Cruz during the 4th installment has not officially confirmed if she will be returning to join the crew for another high seas adventure.
  2. According to insiders and from what we can also infer from the title, one of the major themes of the movie will be centered on Ghosts on a mission for revenge with the ever angry Captain Barbossa whose wrath seeks to keep Sparrow away from Carina, Barbossa's daughter.
  3. News from Slash.com reported that Christopher Waltz has been eyed to play Captain Brand and go head to head with the beloved Captain Jack Sparrow. Reports say that he blames Jack for turning his brother Eric into a pirate which then led to his death.
  4. With regards to logistics, Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that the location of the installment will be split between shooting in Louisiana, but will obviously also be set in the Caribbean.
  5. The plot will center on Captain Sparrow's search for the trident, with information to be sourced from one Captain Teague.

The studio continues to be very optimistic about the franchise. Insiders note that the Lone Ranger, starring Depp as well has abysmal reviews and incurred over $ 190 million in losses and everyone admits to being more cautions with scripts and production.

The Pirates of the Caribbean has been an extremely successful movie franchise as its last four installments have grossed a worldwide total north or $ 3.7 billion, which, according to the BBC, is the fifth biggest film franchisee in history. The last movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides grossed $ 1.04 billion in 2011.
