In Episode 21 of the fourth season of the ABC political thriller “Scandal,” Vice President Susan Ross (Artemis Pebdani) will keep causing trouble for the Grant Administration. As reported by Spoilers Guide, she will do this by hiring Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) to defend a woman in the Navy.

As fans of the pulse-pounding series might already know, the character of Olivia Pope is actually based upon, at least partially, a real Washington, D.C. crisis manager named Judy Smith, who also serves as a co-executive producer and technical advisor for the series.

In an interview with Chicago’s ABC 7 News, Smith, who worked as a Deputy Press Secretary for President George H. W. Bush, took a moment to clarify the differences between her and the character she inspired.

"I want all your viewers to know I didn't have sex with the president," Smith said.

Also, with regards to all the carnage on the series, Smith says, "Moving dead bodies from crime scenes -- that doesn't happen in my office in Washington, D.C."

So even though Smith does not seem to be at all involved in the sex and death aspects of the nail-biting series, the 56-year-old crisis manager-producer is very involved when it comes to supplying ideas to "Scandal's" creator and showrunner Shonda Rhimes.

"I come up with crisis ideas and send them to Shonda," explained Smith, "and she will call and say, 'what do you think about this?' and we talk about it. I read every script and I send them notes, and sometimes I am on the set. It's fun."

Episode 21 of the fourth season of "Scandal" will air on May 7 on ABC
