Episode 21 of the second season of the NBC’s “The Blacklist” promises to lead viewers toward some big-time changes.

After receiving vital intel from Red, the FBI goes chasing after a dangerous Russian Assassin named Karakurt who is threatening enough to be considered an enemy on U.S. soil.

Meanwhile, Cooper (Harry Lennix) will find himself in a compromising position.

As reported in Spoilers Guide, Liz (Megan Boone) and Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff), in an effort to avoid becoming captured, will meet with a Russian counterintelligence officer who will offer illuminating information not only on the man who they are hunting but also on the identity of Liz's mother.

And that's where the James Spader-starring show will veer into new territory.

Liz’s search for answers will, according to Entertainment Weekly, come to a head at the the end of the season.

“The storyline about the woman who she has found in this photograph, who Red has confirmed is her mother, takes us not only forward in terms of who Liz is, but it’s going to take us back to the night of the fire, to what happened in this period of time that has somehow been lifted or erased from her memory somehow,” said executive producer Jon Bokenkamp ("The Call," "Taking Lives").

“We are, in the last few episodes, going to be going back to that critical night in which so much of the story has its roots. Yes, we’re going to have a big discovery. The storyline of Liz and her mother and how she’s connected to Red is going to be at the heart of our finale.”

"Karakurt," Episode 21 of Season 2, will air on May 7 on NBC
