Skull Island Reign of Kong Opening Date: King Kong Attraction to Come to Universal Orlando in Summer 2016
Universal Orlando will unveil its brand new King Kong attraction titled "Skull Island: Reign of Kong" in the summer of 2016, Coming Soon reports.
Visitors of the attraction will have to "survive" a series of challenges presented to them within Kong's world.
In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Mike West, executive producer at Universal Creative, discussed the upcoming attraction and described it as "larger-than-life."
"With this attraction, we'll be taking guests into the physical environment of Skull Island, which isn't just full-scale, it's larger-than-life scale," he said.
One of the biggest features of the Skull Island attraction is the spectacle known as the Great Wall, which stands at 72 feet high and includes massive gates that open upon the visitor's arrival.
Guests will be allowed into the Great Wall by way of an expedition vehicle, which will lead them to various creatures within Skull Island including King Kong himself.
"Your adventure actually begins as you enter the queue for 'Skull Island: Reign of Kong.' I mean, people who are familiar with the Universal theme parks will acknowledge that we're pretty well known now for creating these wonderful immersive worlds. But the queue for 'Skull Island' is going to be just amazing," West added.
The Huffington Post reports that West has been working on Skull Island for the past year and a half.
Prior to Skull Island, Universal Orlando featured a number of King Kong inspired rides including the King Kong encounter within the Universal Studios Hollywood's 1986 tram tour and the King Kongfrontation ride which was featured on the opening day of Universal Studios Florida, the Huffington Post reports.
Skull Island will use a lot of 3-D imagery to portray KingKong in an effort to "emmerse" guests into the world of King Kong, West explained.
So far, an exact date for the attraction's opening debut has yet to be announced.
