Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will face James Kirkland in a non-title fight on Saturday at the Minute Maid Park in Houston -- a fight that is expected to be a war between the two junior middleweight fighters.

Rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, who is co-promoting the fight with Golden Boy Promotions through his SMS Promotions, said that fans will get a treat on Saturday night because both fighters will go all out to five the fans the kind of bout that they are looking for.

"They usually don't give you all of the footage of a world war. But you're going to get a chance to see one when you tune in," 50 Cent told ESPN. "You will get a chance to see one when you tune in to this one. It will clearly be the best fight this year. This is one of those fights that people have been waiting for."

Alvarez, who holds a 44-1-1 record with 31 knockout victories, is a heavy favorite heading into the fight, but 50 Cent believes Kirkland could silence his critics. The rap star said Kirkland is relentless inside the ring and Alvarez could fall into his trap.

50 Cent added that he is expecting a knockout after the two fighters engage in a toe-to-toe match. This makes him convinced the upcoming fight between Alvarez and Kirkland will be a strong candidate for the Fight of the Year and fans will enjoy it more than the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather bout last week.

Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya is also sure fans will like the Alvarez-Kirkland bout more than the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. De La Hoya said the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight did not live up to expectation and the Alvarez-Kirkland showdown not follow the same trend.

"Mayweather-Pacquiao was supposed to be a classic matchup, with back-and-forth action, and we didn't get that," De La Hoya said via Sherdog. "It didn't provide action, so you can sure see fireworks between Kirkland and Alvarez. It's a candidate for fight of the year. Both guys have power, and whoever lands first can win the fight."

Alvarez, the former World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association junior middleweight champion, is coming off a split decision win against Erislandy Lara in July last year.

On the other hand, Kirkland, who parades a 32-1 record with 28 victories by knockout, has not fought since knocking Glen Tapia out in the sixth round of their fight in December 2013.
