Miranda Cosgrove Set to Star in NBC Comedy, Stalker Ordered to Steer Clear of Former Nickelodeon Star
Miranda Cosgrove is set to star in her first TV series since the "iCarly" show went off the air two years ago.
Deadline reports the 21-year-old former Nickelodeon star will join a cast that includes Patrick Warburton, Carrie Preston, Stacy Keach, Carlease Burke and Mia Serafino in starring in the NBC family comedy "Crowded."
The show is being billed as the tale of a couple who, after 20 years of parenting, are finally starting to reclaim their "wild side" when they are forced to reopen their doors to both of their grown daughters. Complicating matters all the more comes news their parents have suddenly decided against relocating to Florida and will be sticking around as well, crowding their space in more ways than one.
The show is executive produced by Sean Hayes, directed by James Burrows and written by Suzanne Martin.
For Cosgrove, the timing of it all couldn't come at a much more opportune time. TMZ reported this week Joshua Stockton pled no contest to felony stalking charges for following her to Disneyland sometime in February. He was promptly sentenced to three years of probation and at least a year of "extensive psychiatric counseling."
Back in October, Stockton was placed under a restraining order and instructed to stay at least 100 yards away from Cosgrove. As part of his latest sentence, Cosgrove was again ordered to stay clear of Cosgrove, this time for the next 10 years or face the overwhelming likelihood of prison time.
Cosgrove recently raved about the prospect of returning to TV, telling J-14 she relishes the idea of acting "a bit more like an adult. While away from the screen, Cosgrove spent at least part of her time as a full time student at the University of Southern California.
