When asked whether "The Incredibles 2" is the film he'll work on next, he answered, "Yeah, it feels like it to me, yeah."

"I had a lot of ideas for the original 'The Incredibles' - that I did not get a chance to use - that I like," Bird told Collider. "I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there was not enough time in 'The Incredibles.'"

"There are new ideas I have and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie," the director added. "I am just focusing on getting 'Tomorrowland' out into the world and playing with 'The Incredibles' sandbox again."

The original film featured the voices of Jason Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Holly Hunter, and Craig T. Nelson, as listed by The Hollywood Reporter. To date, however, no confirmation has been released on whether they will be returning to lend their voices again.

"The Incredibles" had total gross earnings of $631.4 million in the global box office. It also won two Oscar awards including Best Animated Feature.

Before Bird started production for "Tomorrowland," he was reportedly approached by Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm. According to reports, Bird was seriously considered to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII." He also thought about taking on the huge deal, but eventually decided that he could not physically do both "Tomorrowland" and "Star Wars" at the same time.

Having to choose between the two films, it was reported that he opted to take "Tomorrowland" due to its original concept.

"Well, Kathy and I have discussed," Bird said. "I mean, she is basically saying this is a very large sandbox and other people can play in it. I was particularly attracted to the idea of picking up and JJ Abrams got very excited about the notion of shaping the next trilogy. That idea was interesting to me, too."
