Apple's rumored 12.9 inch iPad Pro tablet will feature advanced display specs, says a new report that also reveals a possible 2016 release date.

On Monday, Korea IT News (via GForGames) published that Apple has put in an order for silver nano wire (AgNW) material samples from various companies that include LG Display, Samsung Display and Japan Display. This indicates that the Cupertino-based firm may be switching from ITO-based clear film touch panels to AgNW touch panels.

Using AgNW silver Nano wire benefits not only users but Apple as well. An online source has detailed that making the switch will be more cost effective for the electronics giant. The current ITO-based film requires multiple rare materials, one of which is iridium. Transferring to AgNW material would enable the company to save on production costs.

The AgNW Silver Nano Wire touch displays are believed to be more sensitive to touch commands that will allow more functionality, accuracy as well as better flexibility on the side of the user.

Similarly, greater sensitivity would open up more command options as the device would be better able to discern between multiple pressure levels allowing for the rumored Force Touch feature.

The news follows earlier speculation that Apple is planning to equip the oversized iPad with Force Touch. Apple Insider reported last week that Apple is working on pressure sensitive technology for Force Touch input support. A knowing insider revealed that the improved touch latency will improve the iPad experience especially when used with Apple's new Bluetooth stylus.

Force Touch technology is speculated to be Apple's next-gen feature for its upcoming devices. Aside from the iPad Pro, Force Touch has already been incorporated into the Apple Watch and the newest MacBooks (13-inch MacBook Pro and the new 12-inch MacBook). Fans may also see the feature in the upcoming iPhone -- dubbed as the iPhone 6S -- due out this year.

iPad Pro Release Date Delayed

Earlier reports have pegged a late 2015 release for the iPad Pro, which was already pushed back from an initial early 2015 market entry. Now, GforGames has shared that fans looking to get their hands on a larger iPad will have to wait just a little bit longer.

With the change in touch panel material, insiders say that the AgNW technology will be used on the Pro "next year."
