'Fear the Walking Dead' Season 1 Spoilers & News: Show Begins Production, Is 'Entirely Original Concept'
Fans waiting for the return of the hit AMC zombie series “The Walking Dead" can rest a little easier knowing that there will soon be plenty of ambling corpse-action ahead, as the much anticipated spinoff series “Fear the Walking Dead” has just gone into production.
Coming Soon reports production for the series started on Monday in Vancouver, and additional filming will take place in Los Angeles some time in the near future. AMC released an about one-minute video giving fans a look into the show.
The show's co-creator, Robert Kirkman, has just given up a few new bits of info about the LA set program, which will be taking place before the events in “The Walking Dead” have happened.
Kirkman talks about the temporality of the new series explaining how the “Fear the Walking Dead” takes viewers "back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of ‘The Walking Dead.'” According to Kirkman, the show takes place in a “time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you.”
“The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense," he said. ”We’re going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through.”
“Fear the Walking Dead” promises to be a totally new experience for "Walking Dead" fans. Entertainment Weekly reports that executive producer Gale Anne Hurd described the show, which will focus on new characters and unexplored storylines, as having a “completely different vibe” and a “completely different feel,” adding that “Fear the Walking Dead” is “an entirely new original concept.”
"Fear the Walking Dead" is scheduled to air on AMC this summer.
