'Arrow' Season 3 Finale Spoilers: Oliver Squares Off With Ra's al Ghul, The Flash Helps Team Arrow [Watch]
The Season 3 finale of "Arrow" will be compelling and intense as Oliver will face off against Ra's al Ghul once again and Barry "The Flash" Allen will lend a much needed hand to Team Arrow.
Last week's episode ended with a shocking twist as it appeared that Oliver left his friends from Team Arrow to die in order to convince Ra's al Ghul of his loyalty. As a result, he sealed Felicity, Ray, Laurel and Diggle along with Malcolm Merlyn in an underground prison chamber. However, Malcolm later revealed that Oliver's sacrifice was actually part of his master plan to take down the League of Assassins from the inside.
In an extended promo for "My Name Is Oliver Queen," Felicity appears to call upon The Flash for backup. In another clip, Oliver makes it clear to Ra's al Ghul that he is not Al Sah-him.
Meanwhile, Oliver has been secretly working with Malcom to stop Ra's from releasing a deadly toxin and destroying Starling City.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive Marc Guggenheim opened up about the ending to the big finale.
"It gives you a very definitive end," said the showrunner speaking of the finale. "It does feel like a series finale. At the same time, now that we're working on season four, there are plot threads and notions from the season finale that get pulled into season four. It really does function on both levels, much more so than previous season finales. We've never ended a season the way we're ending this season, where literally you are going, 'How can the show go on?'"
The EP went on to tease that the Arrow will lose his identity. "There is no more lair. Relationships are fractured. All the things that sort of make the show the show are kind of gone," he said.
Guggenheim continued saying that "We wanted to make it a big, compelling season finale. At the same time we wanted to make sure we weren't just repeating ourselves. "
According to Fansided, the official synopsis reads as follows:
"Everyone's lives are in danger as Ra's al Ghul (guest star Matt Nable) puts forth his final plan. Oliver/Al Sah-him (Stephen Amell) must decide if he's strong enough to take on this new role and what it will mean for everyone on Team Arrow, and his soul."
"Arrow" Season 3, Episode 23, "My Name is Oliver McQueen," airs on Wednesday, May 13 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
