Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz are all slated to join the cast of smash hit "Empire" next season.

Entertainment Weekly reports all three Hollywood A-listers are on tap for as yet undisclosed roles on the Lee Daniels co-created drama. The Fox series already stars Terrence Howard as Lucious Lyon and Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon.

Earlier this month, network executives announced the show will be increasing from 12 to 18 episodes next season and will be split between fall and winter seasons. During its network record-setting first season, the show featured big name guest stars, such as Snoop Dogg, Gladys Knight and Mary J. Blige. The names Oprah Winfrey and Common have also been bandied about as potential Season 2 guest stars.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the show averaged a Fox record-breaking 17.3 million viewers per episode and a 7.1 rating among the critical 18-49 year-old demographic.

Deadline also recently reported that Ne-Yo has joined the show to write music for Season 2, joining series music producer Timbaland. In times past, the hit-making artist has openly expressed his love of the show and his desire to be a part of it. Currently, there are no plans for him to act in any episodes.

With Fox announcing this week that next year's 15th season of "American Idol" will be the show's final season, network Chairman Dana Walden has also hinted that several of the show's former judges might be joining an "Empire" episode or two next season.

"Empire" tells the story of a family-owned record label business and the lengths some of its players are willing to go to keep the company afloat and in the hands of who they deem its rightful owners.

The show also stars Jussie Smollett as Jamal Lyon, Bryshere Gray as Hakeem Lyon, Trai Byers as Andre Lyon, Kaitlin Doubleday as Rhonda Lyon, and Grace Gealey as Anika Calhoun.
