Patrick Dempsey Wife: InTouch Alleges 'Grey's Anatomy' Actor Cheated on Wife, Deletes the Story
InTouch deleted an article that accused "Grey's Anatomy" star Patrick Dempsey of cheating on his wife with an intern, Jezebel reports.
Dempsey's character, Derek Shepherd, was recently killed in a car accident on the April 23 episode, breaking the hearts of many fans. Yet, Dempsey signed a contract last year that would have kept him on "Grey's Anatomy" until Season 12 at least.
Sources allege the actor cheated on his wife with an intern on set causing the show's producer to fire him , which led to an abrupt exit from the show.
Entertainment Weekly exclusively interviewed Dempsey about his abrupt departure.
When asked why he left the show before his contract ended he said, "It just sort of evolved. It just kind of happened. [Being written off] was something that was kind of surprising and uh, just naturally came to be. I like the way it has all played out."
He said he signed the contract to have job security but is happy to spend time with his kids after being on the show for 11 years.
"This was the first year that I haven't been in every episode," the star tells EW. "I've been in every episode since the pilot -- close to 250 episodes. That's a huge run."
"[But] there is a time when you're like, how much more can we do with this character? Where do they go?," he said implying that there is a time that a character is no longer needed.
Meanwhile, showrunner Shonda Rhimes was supposedly upset about his infidelity and killed his character off when it started interfering with work.
"Shonda doesn't put up with any off-screen antics," a source told RadarOnline.
The source said Dempsey was suspended for a while when the affair was first allegedly revealed, but when he returned, he started coming to work late and not remembering his lines.
A rep for Dempsey denied the accusations, calling it "absurd."
