The four remaining members of One Direction felt many emotions about Zayn Malik's sudden departure, as they admitted on Thursday's "The Late Late Show."

Host James Corden first asked Louis Tomlinson if he still keeps in touch with his former bandmate.

"Yeah, there's been a bit of back and forth," he responded, seemingly talking about their recent encounter on social media. "I think we're on good terms with him."

When asked about the Twitter fight, Tomlinson said, "I've never been very good at biting my tongue, maybe I get it off my mom. It's just one of those things. Twitter's great for connecting with the fans but also if you feel like saying something you probably shouldn't, it's also good for that as well. Or bad in this case."

However, Tomlinson added that he has been in touch with Malik since then, insisting, "It's all good in the hood."

Liam Payne then admitted that he and the rest of 1D "felt a little bit angry," when Malik quit the band.

"We were surprised, but I think we all knew the general vibe that Zayn was feeling," he continued, explaining that his ex-bandmate did not like certain aspects of being part of the band.

"You've got to follow your heart sometimes and go where you need to go. There's no argument with that," Payne said. "We wish him the best of luck with whatever he gets up to."

Niall Horan also told Corden that the thought of leaving One Direction has not crossed his mind after Malik left.

"The four of us love every part of it, and the shows have been great on the tour," he said. "We're looking forward to bringing out a new record, going on more tours and stuff and we're really enjoying it."

Lastly, when asked if the "Midnight Memories" singers would ever consider bringing a new member to the group, Harry Styles joked: "Maybe a British guy, with the voice of an angel; dance is his life," before quickly saying, "No."

Meanwhile, former One Direction member Zayn Malik appears to be enjoying his freedom after leaving the band. According to the Mirror, fiancee Perry Edwards posted a photo of the two to her Instagram account.
