Leonardo DiCaprio is now one home lighter... he just sold his Malibu mansion for over $17 million!

According to EMag.com, Leo originally bought the home in 2002 for $6 million. He was looking to make a huge profit on the home when he finally decided to put it on the market, despite the not-so-booming real estate market. The Cape Cod-style home was originally priced at $23 million before DiCaprio reduced it to $18.9 million in June. Still, the house wasn't selling so the 39-year-old actor slashed the cost again to its current selling price. While on the market, DiCaprio's luxurious estate was said to have rented for up to $175,000 monthly during peak summer season.

So what does $17 million buy you in Malibu? According to Rolling Out, quite a bit: Located along Malibu Colony Road, the celebrity property was initially offered as a luxury rental in 2012 for a steep $175,000 a month during the summertime. The home then went on the market in November 2012 for a whopping $23 million. It saw its price chopped to $18.9 million seven months later and ultimately sold for roughly $1.5 million under that price -- $17.35 million.

The home, which was built in 1927, consists of a main home and two detached guest houses overlooking the ocean. The main home features an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings and four bedrooms. The main guest house has two bedrooms while the secondary guest home is equipped with a small loft, gym, media room, and office. Combined, the three homes offer a total of seven bedrooms and six bathrooms. Not too shabby!

The details of the home-buyer and date of contract haven't been released to the public, and it's unclear why Leo wanted to sell the home in the first place, or where he's living now. Still, congratulations to Leo for the successful sale of the beautiful property! You can see pictures of the house, including its spectacular ocean views, here.
