Real-Life Human Barbie Dolls 2015: Valeria Lukyanova Admits her Photos Were Photoshopped
Valeria Lukyanova, the self-proclaimed "Human Barbie," admits that her pictures from a recent photoshoot were edited on Photoshop.
After going incognito for several months, the 29-year-old Ukrainian model debuted her new, toned body in a series of Facebook photos last Thursday. In the pictures, she shows off her new figure in a pair of short daisy dukes, a matching denim bra top and sky-high stiletto heels. However, following the posts, she became the target of criticism.
In a recently published interview on Cosmopolitan.com, the model confessed that the snaps were edited before she posted them on Facebook.
"My best friend [took the pictures]. The pictures are photoshopped to achieve smoothness and color correction," Luykyanova said. "The pictures were taken in the botanical garden on the phone. They were not high quality. I had to edit them in order to correct the defects of the phone picture."
She also responded to the backlash from critics who said the pics look "unnatural," and that she has "body dysmorphic disorder."
"There may have been some negative comments," she told Cosmo. "I did not see them. Beautiful people are often envied. That's why negativity does not surprise me. Instead, it touches me."
She went on to say that she sympathizes for those who don't share her aspiration to obtain a perfect body.
"Those who are unsatisfied with what I do and critique me and offend me clearly don't have the same figure as I do. Otherwise they would not be so negative," she told Cosmo. "People who are satisfied with themselves don't comment on who they don't like. They will pass by. And those who write nasty [things], they are openly jealous. To have an ideal body is important to every self-respecting girl."
The Internet sensation found her path to fame for her doll-like looks, which she insists are all natural, excluding her breast augmentation surgery. However, she announced late last year that she was not completely happy with her body and aspired to look more like an Amazon woman.
