'Arrow' Season 4 Spoilers: Stephen Amell Talks About Oliver and Felicity Romance [Watch]
Season 3 of "Arrow" ended with a bang last week as Oliver finally defeated Ra's al Ghul before riding into the sunset to start a new life with Felicity.
After an intense battle with Ra's al Ghul, Oliver took down the leader of the League of Assassins and saved Starling City from destruction. Malcolm Merlin then stepped up as Ra's successor and become the new head of the League while Thea adopted a new superhero identity as Speedy. In addition, Oliver decided to hang up his hood to drive off in a convertible with Felicity, telling her that he had finally found his happiness.
During an interview at the recent 2015 CW Upfronts, "Arrow" star Stephen Amell opened up to TVLine about Oliver's budding romance with Felicity, the return of Damien Dark and his new identity.
When asked if the romance between Oliver and Felicity will continue, Amell gave his fans a bit of information.
"I think that's the plan," he said. "As we know on our show, nothing bad ever happens when people are super happy."
After talking about the Felicity and Oliver love fest, Amell explained that Oliver can no longer use the Arrow persona because it would undo all the sacrifices that Roy made when he outed himself as the Arrow.
"Roy sacrificed himself, so if I were to recreate the suit and go out, it would undo all of the sacrifice that he made. So the Arrow persona -- for better or for worse -- it can't exist anymore," he said.
However, because Oliver can no longer be The Arrow, this leaves room for him to make a full transition into becoming a more traditional version of DC Comics' Green Arrow.
Amell also confirmed that fans can expect to see Damien Dark return next season as the new big bad.
"Safe to say we'll hear that name again -- H.I.V.E. Damian Dark. Coast City -- all that good stuff," said Amell.
Emily Bett Rickards, who stars as Felicity on the show, also dropped spoilers about the upcoming season and her character's relationship with Oliver.
"What I think is so interesting is that once you help people and have served justice for so long, is that it might become an addiction to a certain extent," Rickards told TVGuide.com. "It's one thing to go and be happy and sit on an island, but you want to still be doing important work. So I don't know what that's going to be for them. They're going to have a balance of that and hopefully in their relationship as well."
However, although Felicity and Oliver have been friends and colleagues for a long time, Rickards warned that that there will still be a few bumps in the road in their new romance.
"When you start a relationship with someone, it takes time, quality time, to literally be 100 percent vulnerable. You can have your soul matched with someone and it might not work out," Rickards said. "And now they're going to be spending all this time together without this job or commitment to exterior forces, and I think they're going to learn a lot more about each other."
Although Felicity and Oliver will take time off from fighting crime to work on their relationship, Amell teased that Oliver will likely see come out of retirement "at least 20 or 30 minutes into the premiere." She also hinted that the lovebirds when return to Starling City because of Thea.
"I feel like it might have something to do with Thea, because that seems to bring us back like that," the actress mused.
