OnePlus Two Rumors & Specs: Next Chinese Smartphone Set for Release Later This Year
The OnePlus One was an affordable smartphone that offered excellent specs that tempted mainstream smartphone buyers into giving it a try. The next phone from the Chinese company will be called the OnePlus Two and it is expected sometime in the third quarter of this year.
The OnePlus One debuted on a strange invitation-only ordering system. That system ended and now the smartphone can be purchased directly through OnePlus. The same invitation-only system will return for the OnePlus Two.
TechRadar reports that according to Chinese website Ludashi, the OnePlus Two will have a 1920 x 1080 pixel full HD screen, 3 GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 810 ocata-core processor.
The OnePlus One featured the quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor.
The expected specs for the OnePlus Two are very similar to the HTC One M9 smartphone.
The expected cost of the OnePlus Two is said to be about $403. The entry-level OnePlus One started, and still sells for $299.
There is no word yet on a microSD slot to offer expandable storage. The OnePlus One offered up to 64 GB of storage, but stopped there. It would be nice to see up to 128 GB of storage in the OnePlus Two.
The latest version of Android will be included with the OnePlus Two, Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The camera on the OnePlus Two unfortunately does not look like it will be getting an upgrade. The camera on the OnePlus One was a 13 megapixel (MP) rear-facing shooter and it will likely stay the same. The same is true for the front-facing camera which was 5 MP on the OnePlus One and will stay at 5 MP for the OnePlus Two, BGR reports.
The materials used on the OnePlus Two could become stronger. A "source familiar with the situation" told Business Insider that the OnePlus Two will have a metal frame, according to an earlier report from TechRadar.
