'Frozen 2' Release Date & Plot Rumors: Will Film Shed Light to a Dark But Plausible Frozen Theory Involving Sven and Kristoff?
Will "Frozen 2," the sequel to the highly-successful Disney movie "Frozen," shed light on a dark but plausible "Frozen" fan theory involving best friends Sven the reindeer and ice-delivery man Kristoff?
E! Online described the dark theory of a back story as "depressing" and "horribly tragic." The online magazine stumbled upon it on Reddit.
A fan theories thread, titled, "Kristoff's coat is made of reindeer skin," was created and submitted less than a week ago by Reddit user superclaude1.
The post read, "I'm probably slow but have only just noticed that in Frozen, Kristoff's coat is made from fur. And if you look closer at the pics the fur part seems to be reindeer. I don't think it can be wolf cos the pelt is too big."
After that, superclaude1 added, "That makes it a bit awkward, tho, that Kristoff's best friend is a reindeer and he's actually wearing his skin. But in the context of the story, it all fits together. The ice harvesters must have killed Sven's mother, leaving a baby Sven for Kristoff to look after, and giving him the pelt to wear. This explains why Sven is so close to Kristoff too, and why Kristoff still wears the same pelt. The smell reminds Sven of his mum :( "
Here is the photo he shared as reference.
Another reader, carannilion, replied, "He's dressed like one of the Sami people, so yeah. Reindeer pelt is a very safe bet." The reader also posted a link where Kristoff looked like one of the Sami people, known for reindeer herding and using the animal as meat and clothing source.
But Reddit user, Califer, was "highly doubtful" of the idea and reasoned out that it "would have swamped little kid Kristoff" if it were made from Sven's mom, but he did not rule out the possibility. Califer also noted the size of the jacket. He wrote, "if the jacket was made from Sven's mom, why would it be adult sized if Kristoff was wearing it when he was a kid?"
The theory may tear a fan's heart to pieces, especially since the actual plot and release date for the much anticipated sequel have not been announced yet. Disney already have some films lined up for 2016 and 2017, as mentioned on Variety, so the movie might be slated for release around 2018, even later. With this time frame, hopefully, Disney will allot more time on Sven and Kristoff's origin, and the jacket, too, for all it's worth.
For now, fans who are troubled with the fan theory should find a happy place and sing the film's popular songs, especially Elsa's "Let It Go."
