Fans of J.K. Rowling's work are eager to know what to expect in the upcoming "Harry Potter" spinoff movie, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them." Casting has moved forward and three actresses have been linked to portray the lead roles in the movie.

Dakota Fanning, Saoirse Ronan, Lili Simmons and Alison Sudol are all vying for the role of Tina, The Wrap reported, citing sources familiar with the casting procedure. On the other hand, Kate Upton, Elizabeth Debicki and Katherine Waterston are being considered for the character of Queenie, elder sister to Tina.

The report added that the actresses in the list are already scheduled to do test shots.

Ronan and Fanning are no strangers to book-to-film adaptations with Ronan starring in "Atonement" while Fanning was seen in "Twilight." Upton starred in "The Other Woman" alongside Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann after successfully transitioning to movies from being a swimsuit model.

Debicki will be seen in "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," directed by Guy Ritchie while Waterston appeared in a comedy-drama flick with Joaquin Phoenix, titled, "Inherent Vice"

Meanwhile, reporter Justin Kroll announced via Twitter that Dan Fogler, Steve Zissis and Zack Pearlman are being considered for the role of Scamander's rival, Jacob, in the movie.

Earlier this month, Variety reported that Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne is the frontrunner to play the role of "magizoologist" Newt Scamander in the offshoot movie, although some reports have confirmed that the 33-year-old English actor has already accepted the role.

Redmayne has reportedly requested to see the finished script for the film before making a decision. The "Harry Potter" series author would pen the screenplay for the Warner Bros. adaptation.

Rowling has maintained that the new film should not be considered as a prequel or a sequel to the previous "Harry Potter" movies.

In a Facebook post, she clarified, "Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world."

"Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" will be set in New York, 70 years before the events at Hogwarts took place in the "Harry Potter" books.

The movie is said to be the beginning of a trilogy under David Yates, who directed the last four films of the "Harry Potter" series.

It is set to hit theaters on November 18, 2016.
