J.K. Rowling, famed author of the "Harry Potter" series of books and outspoken advocate of the LGBT rights worldwide, has picked up some nasty rhetoric directed toward her after she celebrated Ireland's legalization of gay marriage on Twitter.

That rhetoric was the ire of the famous anti-gay American hate group known as The Westboro Baptist Church, as reported by People.

In the Tweet last Friday, Rowling posted a picture of Keanu Reeves' character as Ted in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure."

"What if Dumbledore and Gandalf Were Gay Together," the image said. She replied with, "Then they could get married IN IRELAND!"

The WBC group later tweeted back to her saying "So @jkrowling wants Dumbledore & Gandalf to marry in Ireland; if it happens WBC will picket!"

Rowling, who has been known to reply to comments directed at her, had something to say to the group.

"Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls," she replied.

One of her followers actually voiced concern online that if she responded to the hate group, that would give them media attention and that would be counterproductive to the LGBT cause. So Rowling made sure to follow up with one more comment that cleared up her opinion on the matter.

"I don't care about WBC. I think it's important that scared gay kids who aren't out yet see hate speech challenged," Rowling wrote in another Tweet.

The Mirror also reports that the WBC group has also declared hatred for Ivory Coast, when the hate group made signs to protest Ireland's gay marriage referendum and used the wrong flag. The signs featured homophobic slurs. Some said that God was against gay marriage. Another sign featured an Ivory Coast flag imprint, which was supposed to be for Ireland.
