‘The Daily Show’ News: Jon Stewart and Larry Wilmore Talk About the Duggars [Watch]
When the "Daily Show" nears the end of a show, there is sometimes a comedy "toss" to the next show, "The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore," much like cable news channels do on CNN and MSNBC.
But in this case, it is a spoof-on-the-news style toss that lead into Wilmore's program. On Tuesday night, following a brief hiatus from Wilmore, Stewart and Wilmore both shared a split screen toss where they talked about a few current events, according to Entertainment Weekly.
This episode in particular though, there was only one current event they were talking about, and Wilmore comically played to the fact that he has been gone and out of the loop for awhile.
Wilmore told Stewart what he did while on the break.
"I just kind of disconnected and caught up with my favorite TV show," he said.
He later revealed the show to be "19 Kids and Counting" on TLC.
Stewart comically took a pausing look, as if Wilmore had no idea what was happening with the show in recent news, following the story of Josh Duggar's molestation admission of five girls, which triggered TLC's decision to pull the show.
"It was just so nice to watch a show about a family with togetherness and good, old-fashioned values," Wilmore hilariously followed up with in the faux scene. "I hope nothing happens that makes me recontextualize their closeness and isolation as something dangerous."
Stewart's comedy not only comes from what he talks about, but his physical responses give way to a massive laugh track. He comically started to divulge the news to Wilmore, but then just kind of waved it off.
