‘The Last Ship’ Season 2 News: New Trailer Shows New Recruits, Fighting Begins Immediately [Watch]
There was an influx of viewers tuning in last summer when the explosive new post-apocalyptic series "The Last Ship" debuted on TNT.
The audience reaction was phenomenal and the ratings were high enough to get a nearly instant greenlight for Season 2 of this Michael Bay-produced drama.
That is why it is so important to fans of the show to see just how the drama that concluded Season 1 will play out in the next season.
According to Spoilers Guide, a new promo has been released, and the action is just getting started. It starts out with the introduction of new recruits to the ship, and a woman skillfully handles a weapon in such a commanding manner that a comical jab was thrown in the direction of the shipmates.
What is apparent from the beginning is that fighting takes place almost immediately and the war for control has potentially begun.
The new season takes a bit of a departure from the theme of Season 1, though that theme is still alive and well. The new threat is over control of the world, now that the cure has been introduced.
Basically, what that means is that there is a new faction rising that wants to take control by limiting access to the cure for the infected. Most of the fighting will place the vulnerable against the immunes in this conflict for control.
For the immunes, getting the cure out to the people would mean saving the weak. They have come to see themselves as the strong who have survived the virus and they are trying to rid the world of the weak, or those who would succumb to the virus.
CarterMatt reports that Season 2 of "The Last Ship" kicks off on June 21 and will compete in the ratings with HBO's powerhouse drama "True Detective."
