'Magic Mike XXL' News: Channing Tatum Pranks Fans at Staged 'Magic Mike' Screening [Watch]
Channing Tatum is taking the whole method acting game to another level.
Entertainment Weekly reports that in an effort to drum up additional interest in and excitement for his Omaze campaign ending in a fan joining him at the upcoming "Magic Mike XXL" premiere, Tatum recently arranged a fake screening of the film.
The website adds on arrival unsuspecting fans were inundated with questions by Tatum, dressed as a balding marketing executive named Scott, about their genuine take on the first film and their overall love of the "Magic Mike" brand.
Reports are you can almost hear Tatum's heart jokingly break to pieces when one female fan tells him the best actor in the first flick was Matthew McConaughey.
Then, just minutes into the charade and as fans anxiously awaited the start of the 3-D screening of the film set to hit theatres on July 1, a secret teams of strippers, Tatum among them, sprang into character.
As the lights dimmed low, Tatum hastily removed his wardrobe, and one lucky female fan was treated to a close and personal dance performance she almost certainly will never forget.
People previously reported the original "Magic Mike" played to both rave reviews and jam-packed theatres. The film is loosely based on Tatum's autobiography of his time as a stripper, and the sequel is rumored to be co-written by him.
He previously told the Hollywood Reporter of the sequel, "It will be a road-trip movie, and it will essentially be the movie that everyone thought the first one was going to be."
Reportedly, the first film made in the neighborhood of $167 million worldwide and even garnered an acting award for McConaughey at the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards. The original "Magic Mike" also starred Joe Manganiello, Alex Pettyfer and Olivia Munn.
