’19 Kids and Counting’ and Josh Duggar Molestation Scandal: Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar Reveal 'We're Victims' [Watch]
"19 Kids and Counting" stars Jill Duggar Dillard and Jessa Duggar Seewald -- two of Josh Duggar's sisters -- revealed to Fox News journalist Megyn Kelly on Wednesday that they are among the molestation victims, reports Fox News.
The sisters, now married, tell Kelly in the preview clip that they are horrified by the way the media has reported on their family's story.
Media coverage of the molestation scandal included disturbing details from a police report in which Josh confessed to molesting four of his younger sisters -- one sister 5 years old at the time -- and a family friend in 2002 and 2003.
"We're victims. They can't do this to us," Dillard told Kelly, referring to the media attention, as her eyes welled up with tears.
Seewald believes the system in place to protect children involved in such situations has failed.
"The system that was set up to protect kids, both those who make stupid mistakes or have problems like this in their life and the ones that are affected by those choices. It's greatly failed," she said.
Kelly's interview with Dillard and Seewald will air Friday on "The Kelly File" at 9 p.m.
Jim Bob Duggar and his wife Michelle Duggar spoke with Kelly on Wednesday in part one of a two-part exclusive interview meant to shed light on the Duggar family scandal. Jim Bob and Michelle said when Josh gave them his tearful confession, they handled it as best they could.
"As parents we were trying to do the best thing we knew how," Michelle said.
The Duggars said that they alerted their daughters about what Josh had done. They insist that their daughters "weren't even aware" of the sexual abuse because they were sleeping when their brother touched them "over their clothes."
"We also talked to our daughters and reminded them about wrong and right touch and about if anybody ever touched you in a wrong way for you to come and tell your mom immediately," Jim Bob said.
Jim Bob and Michelle said that once they learned of Josh's inappropriate behavior they "put safeguards" in place and watched him constantly.
There had been many questions as to whether or not the victims and Josh received counseling. Michelle told Kelly, "...all of our children received professional counseling, including Josh, who paid for his own counseling himself."
