'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2' News, Cast & Release Date: Jennifer Lawrence Releases New Photo for Upcoming Movie
Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence has publicly shared the first photo from part two of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" series.
Lawrence posted a pic from the set of the film on her Facebook page earlier this week, along with the notation "6.9.15," which some are speculating could be the date the first trailer for the film will debut.
Variety adds the picture captures Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and fellow cast members Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair and Evan Ross as Messalla. Film maker Lionsgate previously released a poster of a headless President Snow, the controlling and ruling character played by renowned actor Donald Sutherland.
According to Variety, the plot of the upcoming flick finds the people of Panem at war, with Lawrence's character engaging the president in one final showdown, teaming up with her friends to assassinate the tyrant in a full-blown revolution.
Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Natalie Dormer, Woody Harrelson, Julianne Moore, Willow Shields, Jena Malone and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman also star.
Variety also reports "Game of Thrones" actress Gwendoline Christie is also slated to replace Lily Rabe as Commander Lyme in the film, which grossed a staggering $752 million worldwide in its initial release last November. Rabe was forced to drop out of the film due to a scheduling conflict.
In films past, the Commander Lyme character has been one of the leaders of District 13 and hails from District 2 as a past Hunger Games winner.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2″ will hit theaters on Nov. 20.
The 24-year-old Lawrence has also starred in such films as "Silver Linings Playbook," "American Hustle," "The Burning Plain," "X-Men: First Class," and "House at the End of the Street."
