Tommy Shaw of Styx Sells Hollywood Hills Home for $2.1M
Tommy Shaw, the guitarist and singer of Styx, has sold his luxury home in Hollywood Hills.
The Midcentury Modern residence, which Shaw purchased in 2011 for only $1.09 million, was bought for $2,114,000 million, Los Angeles Times reported. What's interesting is that the singer originally listed it for $1.95 million, much lower than its closing price.
The talented songwriter's former property was initially set as a rental home for $7,500 a month, according to another story of the Times, published in April.
The 2,207-square-foot Hollywood Hills home rests on about 0.25 acres of land right in the wonderful hills of the Beachwood Canyon area. The private residence is secured with a steel and frosted-glass gate from the outside and adorned with elegant architectural details from the inside.
Notable interior details include a classy foyer, soaring ceilings, airy ambiance, an open floor plan and smooth concrete flooring. The home also comes with a total of three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a powder room and a kitchen. The new owners will especially find delight in its modern kitchen that comes with high-end appliances.
Relaxing in style in the spacious master suite comes easy with its walk-in closets and a fireplace.
Outside, there is a swimming pool and a deck to complete the grounds. The former home of the Styx band member also offers sweeping views of the city, mountains and canyons.
The agents who brokered the sale for the chic celebrity home were Rose Ware and Terry Canfield Schmidt of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties as the listing agents and Sarah Blanchard of Teles Properties as the buyer's agent.
In August 2013, the 61-year-old-rocker also sold another luxury Hollywood Hills estate for $5.3 million. Its Zillow listing posted two years ago described the home as an "exquisite hilltop compound in upper Beachwood Canyon" and "a home that defines the beauty of Southern California living." The exceptional celebrity estate inside a private subdivision of Napa Valley includes a two-story main residence and two guest houses. The 7200-square-foot residence includes seven bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms
