'PES 2016' Update & Release Date: Brazilian Striker Neymar Jr. Confirmed As Face of New 'Pro Evolution Soccer Game'
Soccer fans are in for great news. Konami has recently revealed that it is coming out with the Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 soon and has made famous Brazilian national and FC Barcelona striker Neymar Jr. as the face of the upcoming video game.
The big reveal was made via a teaser trailer that Konami had unveiled this week. The 25-second clip opened to the tune of Queen's "We Will Rock You," while the scene slowly unfolded to show the back and profile of the 23-year-old soccer star.
It then went on to show gameplays, tackles and even players celebrating their goals in front of a cheering crowd. The scene closed to Neymar taking a kick towards the goal as the game's title was shown on the screen.
The clip promised further details on June 12 as it gets a full reveal from Konami that will perhaps include the roster, specifications and other additional features to the video game.
The two-time South American Footballer of The Year recipient expressed his delight and appreciation in being chosen as the cover for PES 2016.
"This is a real honor for me to be the cover star for PES 2016," Neymar said in a statement. "The series has long been praised for its sheer level of control and utter realism and I am delighted to be working with such a talented team as Konami."
The player's movements were scanned and shot for developers to provide a realistic approach to his character in the game. Neymar was intrigued and expressed his excitement to see the final product of Konami.
"I am fascinated by the huge amount of work involved in putting together the game and ensuring the world's top player look and play just like real things," continued the 23-year-old. "I cannot wait to see myself in action as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Konami confirmed that it has extended its partnership with the UEFA Champions League and has gotten additional three more years to its license to produce the famous tournament on its title.
The developer made the announcement on its official website. According to the press release, the extension will give the company the approval to include not just the Champions League but also the UEFA Europa League into its title.
Full list of available players will be released soon. However, for those who want to cop Neymar Jr. as a player in the PES 2016 myClub feature, he is available for those who will pre-order the game.
