Hayden Panettiere looked stunning as usual at the 71st Annual Golden Globes on Sunday. While walking the Red Carpet, Giuliana Rancic asked her the magical question: who are you wearing? Panettiere answered, "Tom Ford. It's the first I've ever worn him, because I've been begging ... I feel sexy in it, I feel comfortable in it, and I'm in Tom Ford. I would wear a plastic bag if it was designed by him."

So what was wrong with the Nashville star's sweet response? Tom Ford didn't actually dress her. The Red Carpet rulebook pretty much requires actresses to borrow the gowns from the designers themselves, Pannettiere, 24, bought her black-and-white Tom Ford dress off-the-rack. Call the Fashion Police, a Hollywood star actually decided to go into a store and purchase a gown herself (are you kidding me?).

Not long after Hayden made the statement, journalist Jim Shi tweeted, "Tom Ford confirms to me he ONLY dressed #NaomiWatts tonight. Hayden Panettiere BOUGHT her Tom Ford dress at RETAIL. Tsk, Tsk." Unfortunately, the snooty and annoying journalist was correct, as Mr. Ford is known to only dress one woman per award show and, for the 2014 Golden Globes, that was Naomi Watts.

Well Hayden, you looked absolutely gorgeous and we appreciate that you went to the "retail" store just like us "regular" folk and bought the dress yourself. And guess what? We aren't the only ones who appreciate Hayden as today Jan. 14, Panettiere tweeted a picture of a bouquet of flowers from Tom Ford with a note that reads, "Dear Hayden, You Looked Beautiful Last Night. Thank You For Your Kind Words. Much Love, Tom."

So... what do you have to say about that, Jim Shi? Hayden captioned the photo simply saying, "Such an honor to wear one of this man's masterpieces! Thank you for my beautiful flowers!" The recently engaged star kept it classy and with this shut all of the criticism down. Touché, our dear Juliette Barnes, touché.
