John Stamos was nabbed on DUI in Beverly Hills late Friday after police discovered him so intoxicated he later had to be hospitalized.

Radar reports the former "Full House" star was formally charged with driving under the influence and was given a citation before being released in the care of a hospital. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 11.

The 51-year-old Stamos was taken into custody just before 8 p.m. after police responded to several calls of someone driving erratically in the area. According to People magazine, back in 2007 Stamos admitted he was publicly drunk when he appeared on an Australian TV show and slurred his words, wandered around the studio and made lewd gestures.

Stamos latest meltdown comes just as he is slated to star in the upcoming Fox sitcom "Grandfathered." He is also in the midst of producing a "Full House" spinoff set to premiere on Netflix sometime next year.

Stamos starred as Uncle Jesse on the hit 80s sitcom and recently hinted to Jimmy Kimmel he's long envisioned a return to the role.

"We've been working on this for many, many years," he said.

The new series is slated to feature 13-episodes, with Stamos both producing and starring. It will start as a one-hour reunion show, then morph into a spin off series also starring DJ Tanner (Candace Cameron-Bure) and her three kids, along with her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and neighbor Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).

Stamos added he also remain hopeful other members from the original show will agree to return this time around, at one point joking with the talk show host, "If we can't get the Olsen twins, we're gonna dress you up."
