Do you neck your liquor? Let's hope not, because you may end up starring in a reboot of Veggie Tales. Yet lying in a coma or dying as a result of excessive drinking is no deterrent for teenagers and college kids across Australia. Called Neknominate, this wildly outrageous drinking game involves lots of booze, the help of your mates, a smartphone camera and lots of hashtags. To play all you need to do is start chugging obscene amounts of alcohol and then nominate your friends to join in on the fun, hence the name Neknominate.

The Daily Mail found a precious Facebook user who thinks it's manly to participate. 'Neck your drink. Nominate another. Don't break the chain, don't be a dick. The social drinking game for social media! #neknominate. Drink Responsible.' Peer pressure may be good when it comes to updating your wardrobe, but staying cool by drinking upside-down or out of a toilet, as one video shows, is going way outside the lines. With lawsuits cropping up left and right involving drinking games gone wrong, it's hard to imagine Neknominating ending well at all. But remember, don't be a dick.

ESPNScrum also caught wind of the game. It wrote about how the latest social media craze captivated Rugby star Steven Luatua to pour a bunch of liquid courage down an unidentified man's throat. To Luatua's credit, he quickly distanced himself from the potentially fatal game.

"I'd like to apologise for any harm my involvement may have caused," Luatua said. "When asked to participate I went along with it but in hindsight I should have dealt with the situation a lot more responsibly.

Furthermore, Luatua's apology just proves that rugby isn't as dangerous as bad PR.

First the world was introduced to planking and than tebowing. Now neknominating and LeBroning are all the rage. But tebowing and LeBroning are mostly harmless fun. And even planking (to a certain extent) is tame in comparison to the new kid on the block. Australia's only hope is for this social media craze to trend away for good.
