FIFA World Cup 2015 Group B Live Stream & Schedule: Germany vs Thailand, Norway vs Ivory Coast Match Preview
The group stage of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup will resume on Monday night with eight teams set to see action, including four countries battling in Group B.
Germany vs. Thailand
Germany will look to solidify their grip on the top spot in Group B when they collide with Thailand at the Winnipeg Stadium in Winnipeg, Canada.
Germany are coming off a 1-1 draw against Norway on Thursday, but they are still on top of their group because of a superior goal difference.
Going up against newcomer Thailand, the Germans will be considered heavy favorite heading into the match. But for Germany coach Silvia Neid, anything can happen in a World Cup match, which is the main reason why she thinks there should be no room for complacency against their Asian foes.
Neid, whose team is considered as one of the favorites to win the title this year, insisted that they will go all out against the Thais, declaring that mercy has no place in a World Cup match.
"Of course we want to show mercy but not when you're in a soccer match in a World Cup," Neid said via Yahoo Sports. "All your thinking about is to seize the opportunities you have. In the end it's about feeling self-confident after the game and going into the next game being in the round of 16."
Thailand are currently in third place in the group with three points. The Thais, who are playing in the World Cup for the first time, need to win against Germany in order to have a strong chance to reach the knockout stages.
Thailand coach Neungrutai Srathongvian knows they are already being counted out but insisted that they are not afraid of their opponent and are determined to fight until the final whistle sounds.
Norway vs. Ivory Coast
Norway needs a victory or hope that Germany defeat Thailand in their match in order to advance. They still have a chance to top their group, but they need to overcome a six-goal differential deficit heading into the match plus the winning margin in case Germany win against Thailand.
Ivory Coast, who took a 10-0 loss to Germany and 3-2 defeat to Thailand in their first two matches, still has a chance to get a spot in the Round-of-16, but they need to win big against Norway on Monday.
