‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Season 3 Spoilers & News: Will Andre Braugher Be on the Show Next Season?
If there is one thing that's for sure, it's that Andre Braugher will definitely be back next year for Season 3 of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," according to Natalie Abrams of Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room.
Last season, viewers saw Captain Holt had been reassigned, or essentially demoted to a terrible public relations job. But officially, he "took a new job." This reassignment was met with jeers from his comrades in the precinct, but it is not a death nail for the character.
According to Abrams, who spoke with executive producer Dan Goor, Holt will be back next season.
"He will be on the show," executive producer Dan Goor told EW's Abrams. "Holt will be out of the office for the first few episodes. We'll be following him and Gina to the PR world."
Holt's replacement "will cause ripples in the office," according to Goor. Also, Jake Peralta may have a tough time handling this big change.
"We're very conscious of the fact that he lost a dad again," Goor said.
Bustle reports that Braugher won a Critics Choice Award for this role on the show and has also been nominated for an Emmy for the same role. That speaks volumes about how audiences like him for the part and for the show. Giving him the boot seems as though it would be "bad business." Even toning his presence down to a standstill would cause fans to sneer at the notion.
The article classifies Braugher as one of the funniest characters on the show, given his "by the books" demeanor that's classically at odds with Andy Samberg's goofy Peralta.
Goor also spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and told the site that Braugher and Chelsea Peretti (Gina) will be staying.
"If we got rid of them, Fox would have the right to call the police, handcuff us, and throw us off of cliffs," Goor said. "They are critical, wonderful cast members who are incredibly funny. They are still regulars and we will be following them."
