UFC 189 between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor is still a few weeks off but many fans of the popular MMA fighters are already eager to see the two go down and fight each other. One actor, who is a martial artist himself, has recently expressed his desire to train McGregor after the event to help the Irish fighter improve his skills.

Jean-Claude Van Damme was a guest on Bruce Buffer's podcast, "It's Time," when he made the comment that he'd be willing to teach McGregor a thing or two about striking techniques.

"After this fight I would love to spend some time with him to elevate the knee even better and not make mistakes," said the actor to Buffer. "Turning around like that, it's fantastic. He's got the speed but a guy like Aldo can get inside him. That's dangerous."

Van Damme's response came about when he was asked to comment on the Irish man's chances against the Brazilian when they face each other in July.

"McGregor is a great fighter if he can use his legs as good as his fists," said the 54-year-old Belgian kickboxer.

He further explained that The Celtic Tiger's advantage over other fighters is his sense of sight.

"What he has that not too many people have is the eye. Fedor Emelianenko was not really in shape, but his eye. He's got that, but what McGregor has is hunger and he's training every day."

The "Street Fighter" actor gave his praises for both fighters, comparing them with luxury cars like the Lamborghini and Ferrari and highlighted their strengths. However, Van Damme seemed convinced that McGregor has what it takes to defeat Aldo.

The martial artist believes that the MMA fighter's advantage lies in his ability to "go backwards as the same time he's hitting," adding that McGregor has the "length to go forward and the technique to go backwards."

Both fighters have different styles in their approach to their opponents, noted Bleacher Report. Aldo is famous for his striking game while McGregor, according to Van Damme, could definitely improve his.

Meanwhile, the Irish man is known for his strong left hand, which could attack and hurt Aldo when he least expect it. McGregor's southpaw could be the catalyst for him to defeat the Brazilian fighter in their upcoming match.

Aldo will go against McGregor in UFC 189 on July 11, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
