When "Pretty Little Liars"’ showrunner Marlene King called Season 6 “the darkest stuff” the show has ever offered, she wasn’t kidding.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, King addressed the progression of the ABC Family show, which is currently centered on the terror and frustrations of a group of characters that know they have been kidnapped and tortured by someone they do not know:

“This started off as a show for teenagers, and it’s so not that anymore," King said. "This is dark and a murder mystery -- not even murder. Murders, plural!”

Tuesday’s episode, titled "Songs of Experience," has the girls continuing their search for answers about A's true identity.

In a sneak peek clip of Episode 3 of Season 6, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) are talking on the phone, speculating about who was really behind the kidnapping.

The liars are all still trying to put their lives back together after being released, according to Spoilers Guide.

For Aria, this means focusing her energy on figuring out who Andrew is. Spencer goes looking for answers from Jason and Alison. Meanwhile, Hannah is actually trying to put things behind her and wants to be withher friends.

For Alison, she's starting to realize that she has lost her power.

"...Alison is no longer the queen bee/mean girl she once was - but who is she now? A new friend tries to help her find the courage to start anew and find the 'new' Alison," according to the description.

In real life, Sasha Pieterse has taken to Instagram to counter some talk regarding her weight.

"As a lot of you have noticed my body has gone through some changes, and I want to clear the air and give you an explanation," she said. "I have been facing a bad hormone imbalance that has thrown my body completely out of whack."

The 19-year-old South African-born actress and singer said she wanted to assure her fans that she was healthy and getting "everything back on track" before going on to denounce Internet bullies.

"We live in such a judge mental society that puts every kind of flaw, including weight gain, in the same category," she said.

“Pretty Little Liars” airs its third episode of Season 6 Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
