It seems as though Winona Ryder has joined the Netflix family.

As Netflix continues adding original shows, especially those of the supernatural kind, there is more Hollywood star power. Ryder has signed on to star in this new a series that is yet to be titled, according to Variety.

The series, which was previously titled "Montauk," comes from the creative minds responsible for Fox's "Wayward Pines," Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer. The show has performed well for the network since its release in May and features a supernatural theme.

Variety also reports the project is said to be centered around the disappearance of a small boy in Long Island, New York, set in 1980.

Ryder is expected to play the role of Joyce, the mother of the young boy who vanishes. She is encompassed by a small town who comes together to get to the bottom of the boy's disappearance and the ensuing mystery behind it.

The town, friends, family and law enforcement work cohesively to put the pieces of the puzzle together, but what they eventually finds out is difficult to understand.

The ensuing mystery of the series reveals the disappearance of the boy is supplemented by government experiments that have a top-secret designation. This is also accompanied by supernatural forces and a mysterious little girl who in some way drives the story arc and ties things together.

Ryder has been cast alongside David Harbour ("State of Affairs," "The Newsroom"), who will portray the chief of police in Long Island.

The series is set to debut on Netflix in 2016. It will be written and directed by the Duffer twins. Karl Gajdusek, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen will be executive producers on the project, which apparently is getting a new name with no other details at this time.

This series will mark Ryder's first role as a lead character in a TV series.

Entertainment Weekly reports each episode will be chronicling the search for the young boy and the unfolding mystery.
