"Real Housewives of New York" star Bethenny Frankel now claims she only married soon to be ex-husband Jason Hoppy out of fear and should have stuck to her mantra of making all such decisions by "going with her gut."

Speaking before a recent NYU Alumni Association forum, People magazine reports Frankel added, "I think my instinct and gut going into my marriage [knew] it would turn out like it did," she said. "I could feel it, but I intellectualized it. People are always talking about 'Do I go with my head or my heart?' Go with your gut."

The 44-year-old also admits she allowed herself to be overly influenced by others, namely Bravo TV and "Real Housewives" honcho Andy Cohen.

"It's all Andy Cohen's fault, he will admit it," she joked. "And yes, that's the point. That's why I wrote the book 'I Suck at Relationships So You Don't Have To' -- because I wasn't making a decision out of truth, I was making a decision out of fear."

Still, Frankel insists she has no regrets about having all her relationship struggles play out on "Real Housewives" or later even her "Bethenny Ever After" spin off show.

In Frankel's mind, she simply told the story she was living at the time of the show's airing, adding she found it difficult to compartmentalize.

"But again, my gut did not like that we were doing a show together," she added. "My skin crawls thinking about it. I just did not feel right about it, and I kept saying, 'I don't want to be the Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott show.'"

Frankel is now rumored to be dating Florida businessman Michael Toppel and the two were recently spotted strolling, hand and hand, all across Manhattan.
