Jada Pinkett Smith Talks Playing Strong Characters, Says Women Need to 'Step Out of The Box'
Jada Pinkett Smith seems to have a well thought-out reason for why she would agree to star in the sexually charged and somewhat raunchy "Magic Mike 2."
Pinkett Smith opened up to Haute Living magazine in an upcoming issue about what she sees as some of women's biggest challenges.
"Women need courage to be able to step out of the box and be who they are meant to be," she said.
And with that, Will Smith's better half is ready for action. Pinkett Smith is known to play a certain kind of character, and the actress is not sure if she wants to try something different.
"People tell me that I always play strong women," she said. "In all honesty, that's probably where I am restricted in my creative pursuits. I have no idea how not to be strong and I don't know if I have the desire to. I tend to gravitate towards strength energy lines."
But family comes first, Pinkett Smith insisted. She added that after she's made certain all is stable in her home and family life, she tends to look for ways to keep her creative juices flowing.
The actress said that because her children are becoming older, she is alwaystrying to find a way to keep their lives balanced.
"The formula is always shifting," she said. "There is no one way to do it! A woman needs to be deeply connected to herself and her family, and she has got to trust herself."
The 43-year-old recently raised eyebrows when she talked to Howard Stern about her nearly 20-year marriage to Smith and rumors of infidelity and an open marriage. Pinkett Smith said she was not his "watcher."
Pinkett Smith later elaborated that she's convinced it's "unrealistic" to expect a man not to check out other women, but just because he does doesn't mean that he will unfaithful.
