Fans of the hit film "Kick-Ass" and its subsequent sequel will be pleased to hear that there are plans underway to produce not one but two more installments in the franchise that features their favorite ordinary superheroes, according to Yahoo! Movies.

The comedy-action franchise rose to fame in 2010 with the on-screen trio -- the title character, who teamed up with Hit-Girl and Big Daddy -- squaring off against Christopher Mintz-Plasse's Red Mist and his gangster father. The sequel furthered the story and led to a grand conclusion that tied up the storyline, at least for some.

But the original creator for the franchise cult-favorite, Matthew Vaughn, dished more details about what's coming next for the characters in an interview with Yahoo! Movies. He revealed that he is "not happily done with the franchise" and is looking to return to it for more.

"We're working on an idea for a prequel of how did Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy," Vaughn told Yahoo! Movies. "If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn't like 'Kick-Ass 2' and then we can go off and make 'Kick-Ass 3.' I think we've got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with 'Kick-Ass.'"

See the interview below.

Vaughn, who recently directed "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and "X-Men: First Class," has been strangely adept at translating these comic book stories onto the big-screen, according to Screen Rant.

"Kick-Ass" was based of a graphic novel by Mark Millar, and "X-Men" has many incarnations over at Marvel.

The sequel to the first film did not fair so well at the box-office, nor with critics. But the cult-following still remains strong for the franchise and the story has many directions where it can pick up.

It should also be noted that it was Jeff Wadlow who directed and wrote the sequel and not Vaughn. Vaughn was still a producer for the film though and he is now looking to expand the universe.

There is no word yet on production dates or new key members including actors and production leads.
