In what can be viewed as a new, true account of the period of time in the '60s when the space race was at it's height, seven women have been thrown into the national spotlight as the "First Ladies of Space." Episode 2 of "The Astronaut Wives Club" is titled "Protocol" and airs next Thursday on ABC at 8 p.m.

As CarterMatt reports, this episode will primarily focus on the ensuing consequences these ladies go through with fame and danger in regards to their husbands as they embark on America's top mission in the '60s.

Louise and Alan Shepard bask in their newfound glory for the success of his mission and the impending fame that will no doubt go with it. Louise will make sure she is ripe for the cameras and relieved from her worries.

Betty Grissom, on the other hand, is still in that phase where worry is about all she can do. Gus' launch is on the horizon, and she turns to Betty for advice on how to handle it.

John's orbit has been completed and although she is relieved from her own worries, Annie Glenn now has another matter to attend to. The cameras will be rolling and the interviews will be coming. But she grapples with a stutter that could prove quite embarrassing while on camera if she doesn't do something about it.

The ratings for "air + 3" have not yet been released.

The series is slated to take a broader approach than most of the summer dramas, mirroring shows like "Mistresses" with its rampant use of scandal and infidelity. The story lines will play in with the action of the astronauts, likely to a national audience as well.

See below for an extended preview trailer of the season, which hints at many angles the story will take, including a possible disaster and with imminent deaths.
