The ABC Family hit series “The Fosters” is back on the air for Season 3 and already deep into the kind of family drama that fans of the GLAAD Media Award-winning show have come to expect.

In the upcoming Episode 5 of Season 3, titled “Going South,” Callie (Maia Mitchell) will convince Brandon (David Lambert) to go on a mysterious trip that leads them to Mexico. Spoilers Guide reports that Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) discover an empty pregnancy test box in the trash and begin to suspect that someone in the house is worried about perhaps being knocked up.

Meanwhile, a funny thing seems to have occurred in the world of teen show drama.

As noted in Vulture by entertainment critic Margaret Lyons, Alex Saxon, who plays the easygoing Wyatt on "The Fosters" is essentially playing the same character on MTV's “Finding Carter.”

Lyons has observed that Saxon's character Max on “Finding Carter” is getting into the same kind of love trouble that his character Wyatt has been experiencing on “The Fosters.”

“I'm not knocking Saxon's performances here at all; he's got a surfy-sweetheart charm that works very well on both shows,” writes Lyons, but adds: “That said, Max and Wyatt were very similar characters to begin with, and now their story lines have become identical.”

What’s more, the characters that this young man chooses to play might not be so different from the actual actor himself.

When asked by Young Adult Hollywood if he saw himself as similar to his character on "Finding Carter," Saxon admitted that in “certain aspects” he was.

“We look the same,” he said, adding: “they’re certain aspects to how he interacts with people that I really identify with and how he thinks about things.”

Episode 5 of “The Fosters” airs Monday July 6 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC Family.
