New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is drawing the ire of hip hop mogul Russell Simmons over what Simmons sees as reluctance to push harder for the police reforms de Blasio promised during his run for office.

The New York Daily News reports an agitated Simmons ripped the Mayor as a "punk" and "b***h" for what he sees as his new found stance.

"Our police commissioner is bullying our punk mayor that we worked so hard to put in office," Simmons said during a recent appearance on the "Ebro in the Morning" radio show.

Simmons went on to directly assail de Blasio for what he further deems as the mayor's failure to demand that Gov. Andrew Cuomo appoint a special prosecutor to investigate police related shootings as he once promised he would.

"That was Governor Cuomo's promise not only to me but to the people of New York State, and he has not done it," he said. "And Mayor de Blasio has not said a word because he's a punk."

Simmons went on to rant he and many other progressive groups worked hard to get de Blasio elected and to date he has done very little to earn that support.

"I was there when the animal rights community and the gay community said 'Anybody but Quinn' and they worked, and we worked, hard because [de Blasio] was a progressive," he said. "But he has not done anything ... He's a mouse."

Later, de Blasio spokeswoman Karen Hinton released a lengthy statement rejecting many of Simmons' contentions.

"We are finalizing a plan with [the Department of Justice] and Legal Aid providers to end abusive conditions at Rikers," she said. "Mayor de Blasio has fully embraced the need for federal monitors, more cameras and other tough reform measures."
