Jake Lloyd, the young actor who portrayed the child version of Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace," was arrested after leading police on a high speed car chase in Charleston, South Carolina, that ended in a separate county, according to TMZ.

Apparently, the now 26-year-old actor was being pursued by a Sheriff's deputy when he began to flee. The chase took place over several miles and even involved him swerving around cars in a double yellow lined highway.

The car chase went on for miles and led them into a different county. Lloyd began driving erratically with reckless disregard for the people and places around him. The chase had reached very high speeds and only ended after Lloyd's car plowed into some trees. He was then taken into custody by deputies on the scene.

Police officials say that Lloyd had lost control of his vehicle when it ran off the road and plowed through a fence before hitting a barrage of trees in a wooded area, which eventually ended the pursuit.

Although most chases start when a person is either under the influence and/or carrying illegal possessions, Lloyd's charges signify a less than reasonable reason to run.

The police have officially charged him with reckless driving, failure to stop, resisting arrest and driving without a license. There is no mention of narcotics, alcohol or stolen merchandise anywhere in the police report, which leads people to wonder why he risked so much for so little.

Lloyd is mostly known for his role as Anakin Skywalker, but he also played opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1996 holiday movie "Jingle All The Way" as well as appearing in the made-for-TV movie "Apollo 11" -- all roles he performed as a child actor.

Us Magazine reports that his last acting role was in the 2005 film "Madison," which starred Jim Caviezel and Mary McCormack.
