Dwyane Wade Free Agent: Basketball Star's Father Wears Cleveland Cavaliers T-shirt to Church Services in Miami
Dwyane Wade's father was spotted sporting a Cleveland Cavaliers T-shirt while at Father's Day services at his church in Miami on Sunday.
According to Bleacher Report, the development has reignited growing rumors that the Miami Heat free agent star might be entertaining of rejoining pal and former teammate LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Wade and James started for four seasons together for the Miami Heat. The two and the rest of the team appeared in the NBA Finals each of those seasons, and at one point, won back-to-back titles. James left Miami as a free agent for his hometown of Cleveland after the 2014 season.
The 33-year-old Wade has spent all 12 of his NBA seasons in Miami, but it's rumored contract talks with the team on a new, multi-year deal have all but hit a stalemate.
Without James, Miami failed to reach the Eastern Conference playoffs this season, while the Cavs advanced all the way to the Finals against league MVP Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
The New York Daily News reports the former teammates remain close, and James' foundation is listed as a supporter of Wade Sr.'s Pro Pops Foundation.
Back on Christmas Day when the Heat faced off against the Cavaliers in a nationally televised game in Miami, James could be overheard telling Wade after the Heat's 101-91 win that the two should team up again.
"Like I said, if we aren't better this year, we're gonna reunite again and do some bigger and better things, alright?" he said.
It just turns out the reunion might take place in Cleveland.
For what it's worth, during an even more recent interview on "The Hot Corner," an Internet radio show, Wade Sr. told the host he was praying to God that his son would stay in Miami "the rest of the way."
